Question
my mom has a 97 s10 pickup that she got a year ago.it ran fine then n has been parked 4 a year n the battery went dead,a new battery was put in n it will crank, but won"t start now.i pour gas in the carb... n it"ll run 4 a second n quit.i"ve listened 4 the fuel pump 2 kick in but it don"t make a sound.i heard theres a fuel pump fuse under the hood, but i can"t find it.so what i"m asking is can u help me as 2 what mayb the problem.tyvm...al

Answer
If you think it s the fuel pump, you can test it before you go buying one.Get a fuel pressure tester for injecton engines and hook it up to the fuel rail valve then crank the engine. You should get 45psi.pressure.If not then look at the fuses and the fuel pump relay. If you intend to keep this car,i would recommend a Chiltons manual, theyre cheap at the parts store about 20 $.Im not exactly sure where the fuse is located but it will show you in the book. Its usually in the power control box and is labelled but if not then the books the only way to find which it is or just look at all the fuses one at a time.I am more to thinking its bad gas because if you didnt use fuel stabiliser then its probably gone off. With sitting it can do this. Its a pain i know but you will need to get the fuel pumping first then get rid of the old gas and fill up with new.
