Question
my van makes serious noise then shuts down, but will start right back up. the noise will go away, then it idles fine. then al of the sudden comes back and does it again. the noise sounds like it is coming from the cam area. (don't sound like crank bearings)Any thought's?

Answer
Noise from the engine usually isnt good news.Cam or followers maybe but unless i actually hear it, i would be guessing.Your best bet is to get a mechanic to listen but i wouldnt drive it too far if it does drive at all. There,s so many components in this van,con rods, crank shaft, lifters cams, piston knock or really it can be anything.Did your check engine light come on ever?....and how many miles are on it?
