Automotive/AC won't shut off

Question
My air conditioner won't shut off even when the car is turned off. I can only get it to shut off when the battery cable is off. I have a 2001 Mercedes E320 4matic. What can this be.

Answer
How do you mean the A/C compressor or the fan?The compressor must shut off as it is driven by the fan belt.If it is your fan inside the car it is most likely the resistor on the motor or the switch itself. The climate control unit on these models had problems and i have changed a few.Thats the most likely cause.
