Question
1996 GT Mustang, same alternator for 7 years since then have gone thru 6  -
July put in alternator, out in August, now again
buying bosch rebuilt from Pep boys auto store
Life time warranty, (Factory stereo)
What causes this, have a new battery.?

Answer
No apparent reason?....do you mean you have gone thru 6 alternators?..Try a new alternator from a different store as i found that the local auto stores are rebulit in India and China,,,,not reliable  at all or spend big and get one from Ford.Have the charge circuit tested when you get the new one it should read 12.45..12.30......if its too high have the car looked at by a good electrician. If its overcharging it will burn the alternator. Also make sure your belt isnt too tight..tensioner is ok.
