Automotive/Audi power window not completing

Question
You said, "to stop at a certain point when the cutoff goes". Can you please explain this a little more. Do you mean, that there is a cutoff component (as in stopper) and when that component breaks, then something else makes it stop earlier ? Why ?
I would imagine that there is a cutoff to stop you from pushing once it is closed. And that this is determined by some marker on a cable. So that when it goes up high enough to have the window close then it trips the motor off. And the mechanism for this is crucial to understand. For example, if it is a bolt on a cable, then what if the bolt moved. OR, if it is sensitive to
pushing, what if something is jammed in the track, then maybe we are pushing into that. Maybe something fell inside the door. Is that a possible explanation ?
How hard is it to pull off the door panel ? Is it easy to break things while doing this ?

Thanks

Question -
I believe my friend's car is a 95 4 door. The window continues to motor after a certain point
but it reverses direction. It won't go all the way closed right now. But the reversing makes one wonder if it thinks there's something getting squeezed. Is the Audi window motor made to prevent that ?
What could be the reason for this happening ?
Do we need to open the doorway to clean out something ?

thanks
Charlie

Answer -
Sounds like the motor is bad but you will need to remove the door panel and take a look, these motors are set to stop at a certain point if the cut off goes then this is what happens.

Answer
Easiest way to fix this problem is to replace the mechanism with the motor,,,,its a bit technical to figure the way it works and as for the panel you will need to pry some plastic parts off so care is needed and it should come off ok.The method of the motor is to go a certain distance and stop ,so inside the motor something has gone wrong ,worn out,,,,If your window holder mechanism looks ok then replace the motor. If you find anything inside the door thats broken then replace that also. The door panel has several hidden screws so look for plastic covers which pop off.
