Automotive/Clutch Problem Diagnosis

Question
Hi Sean
I don't trust my local subaru dealer and like to go in armed with info. Hoping you can help diagnose the sudden death of my clutch pedal.
Clutch is working fine i.e not slipping. After two de-clutches it stopped working with the pedal going straight to the floor and staying there. Gear box will engage and disengae with the engine off.Clutch overflow cylinder has the right amount of fluid in it.
Appreciate any advice you can give.
Cheers

Ian

Answer
You seem to have lost hydraulic pressure so usually its either the slave or master cylinder. You say there is plenty of fluid? That would mean your pressure plate or internal problem.Check yourself first before you go to the dealer.Look at your master cylinder by checking up under the pedal for leaking of fluid on the carpet.Next thing is to look at the slave cylinder usually on the transmission.Follow the feed hose to it and see if its leaking. If both are ok,then its the clutch itself and unfortunately, the gearbox has to come out.
