Question
we recently had our jetta in for a tune up. now the engine light is on all the time.  took it back and they can not figure out what's wrong..(VW dealership)..  also when driving the a/c, headlights will shut off without notice but the car will still be running and the radio is fine with all other items in the car, however I noticed that the brake light comes on when this happens..  any suggestions?  i appreciate your time and assistance.

Answer
the dealership doesnt know?,,but they must be able to read the code if the check engine light is on.This has to be fixed because it sounds like the PCM,,power control module.I honestly would be guessing without knowing the code on the scanner. My best advice is to find a good electrical shop, but what about the guys that did the tune up?,,,did you ask them what they did ,surely they should fix this,,,,,thats the first time i have heard of the dealers not knowing,,,sorry i cant help more but there are so many probable causes for this, relays, wiring, short circuit,,,,,,computor, pcm,,,,,,,,it will take a good tech a while to find it.As for the check engine ,this car is OBD2, simple to read the code as you only have to plug in the scanner under the dash ,
