Question
I have an escort that runs for about 10 minutes then shuts off.  When it shuts off I still have spark fuel pressure and if I spray 2+2 gum cutter in intake I can keep car running.  What is my problem?

Answer
if you still have fuel pressure when it shuts off then the problem is in between the pump and the intake.test the pressure regulator?..any fuel leaking from the rubber vacuum hose?..what pressure does it read?,should be about 45 psi,,at the fuel rail,,,,you will have to hook up a pressure guage when the cars running,,change the fuel filter also and dont use a lot of the spray as it puts wear on your pistons and crank, its very high octane,,ive seen this on a few fords and it may be intermittent fuel pump problems,,,.its gotta be one of these.its definately got spark all the time even when it stops?i have seen what looked like fuel pump probs and it turned out to be electrics.hope this helps,,,,,,,oh and look at your fuel pump relay and fuses for good contacts,,,you didnt say what year this car is...im assuming its fuel injection.change the relay and see what it does ,,,,,,hope this helps
