Question
If there is no check engine light, can there be a code?  I had 2 different mechanics (one of them the Toyota Dealer) tell me that unless a check engine light is triggered, there will be no diagnostic codes.

-----Question-----
My 2002 Camry is misfiring intermittently, but only when it is raining or snowing.  It actually "feels" like the front wheels are slipping when it occurs.  Why would it not trigger a check engine light and what could the possible problems be?  I had the plugs and wires replaced less than 6 months ago.
-----Answer-----
You need to read the code and it will give you more information. The cause of a misfire can be a dozen things as there are so many sensors etc on this engine. If you get the code i will try to help you from there.

Answer
There are 2 types of code.Hard code which makes the light stay on until cleared, and intermittent which means the light will come on and go off but will store the code in the memory.Have you never noticed the misfire under dry conditions?.Have the MAF  sensor looked at.
