Question
Hi Sean,
My car just died on me today as it won't start. Basically, i'm suspecting bad starter as there is no crank happening at all when I turn the switch. It choke a bit 2 weeks ago and then ran fine until today. My other nissan 200sx 95 car did exactly the same thing and it was the starter. Can you please suggest some tricks to get it cranking so I can start the car and bring it to my mechanic ? I have heard to hit on the starter a couple of time, although I don't know exactly where it is. Please help.
Thanks

Answer
Could be the starter as this is the usual symptoms no crank..the starter is between the bell housing engine /gearbox .Im not sure which side its on ,you may have to look under the car but you will see it.Follow the cable from your battery the red live and it will run to your starter, tap the casing and see if it cranks ,if the car has a manual transmission you can bump it in gear.
