Question
I've ordered a service manual off Ebay but it hasn't come yet.

I need to know urgently the point setting, dwell and timing for the 1960 slant six.  I rebuilt the carburetor and lost a cylinder in the process.  Points are no longer opening.

Answer
The timing on the 1960 Slant-Six was 5 Degrees before Top Dead Center, the Point Gap is .020, the Dwell Angle is 43 Degrees, and the idle speed in Neutral is 550 rpm. Also check all your Plug Wires with an Ohm Meter for continuity. You may have a bad Plug Wire.
