Question
How do you remove the steering wheel off of a 2000 VW Jetta. It is a 5 speed and I need to replace the ignition cylinder(electrical part).

Answer
You must disconnect the negative terminal to disarm the airbag first.I recommend you get a manual as it is extremely dangerous removing airbags if you are not familiar with this type of job. So,if you have the battery disconnected, you will see behind the wheel the screws that hold it to the wheel.Remove these screws and take off the bag as one unit. There will be a large nut in the centre of the wheel.Remove this and the wheel will come off.Take off all the turn signal wiper controls also.its easier to remove the lock with these off.
