Automotive/Subaru rough idle when cold

Question
I just bought it 2004 Outback - 4 cyl. When the engine is stone cold it rough idles - bad. The RPM's go up to 2k then down to 1.5k then up then down to 1k. It almost wants to stall. It lasts about a minute. I think till it goes into closed loop then it's fine for a boxer style engine. It's got 40k on it and I live in CT. Any info is greatly appeciated. Thanks

Answer
The cause for rough idle can be ,,vacuum leak.MAF sensor, idle air control, throttle position sensor, intake manifold leak,EGR valve sticking, so if you check all these you may be able to find the fault. If you just bought the car im assuming you didnt get warranty?
