-----Question-----
I have a 1988 Chevy Celebrity.  I am in the process of replacing the tilt steering column.  My problem is in any of the stuff I have read it tells me that I have to disconnect the shifter cable before removing the column.  Could you tell me how to do this?
-----Answer-----
Im not familiar with this car  and wondered does it have a floor or column shift?

Answer
The cable will be connected to the transmission under the hood.Find out where it is and disconnect it and pull it thru the firewall as you remove the steering column. It may be tricky but care and patience and it will come out.Its better to remove the complete column/cable and easier.
