Question
I have a 2002 Volkswagon Jetta VR6...I got in my car this am to go to work and I couldn't get my car in gear.  It runs fine-no problems with the engine, and no warning lights have came on.  My car was not registering that I was pressing on the brake to put it in gear.  Do you know what might be causing this?

Answer
the neutral safety switch,,or the brake switch ,,look under the brake pedal and see if its connected .It may be faulty and you might have to replace it.You can also try switching the key on and off see if it releases the gears. With your foot on the pedal tap the brake also .
