Automotive/automatic transmission

Question
Ok, I've asked this question to many others and I've gotten some mixed answers about it. In an automatic transmission, is it harmful to manually upshift/downshift in any way?

Answer
I have been asked this a few times but really if you like changing gears, then its better to drive a stick.Severe changing will cause harm ,,that is changing down when at high speed. Its ok to change from say o/drive to 4th if your going uphill but the automatic gearbox is made to do it all itself. Its a intricate piece of engineering and best to let it do what it is supposed to do.
