I have a 2000 toyota tacoma. My brake lights work when my head lights are off, but when I turn my head lights on my brake lights stay on.
Check the bulbs in the brake circuit on the side lights only and see if the brake lights are staying on.If they only stay on with the headlights,then its a short in the wiring.Did you make sure the bulbs are fitted properly?In the holders.Other cause may be a bad earth on the light units themselves.
