Question The condenser on my 1999 Saturn sl2 needs to be replaced. Is it a job that I can do at home? I have done engine work so I am not totally lost under the hood. Could you tell me what steps I would need to take to replace it?
thank you for your time
Adam
Answer A/C condenser. Not too hard if you take your time.First you have to remove the radiator and fan assembly.Be careful of the airbag sensors.Remove the A/C lines at the H block and you probably want to have the gas removed first by a shop vac unless its already leaked out. They will have to refill it also. Some condensers come out with the radiator as they are bolted together.Remove the transmisssion cooling lines,if your car is automatic.Best to change the drier and filter at the same time.Once you are done you can have the system flushed or better to do it before you start. If you are familiar with A/C systems its easy but if you have never worked on them then its best to leave it to the experts.
general auto repair, japanese, bmw, mercedes, mini cooper 1960/2009,general british cars, ford.I DO NOT work on automatic transmissions.Manual transissions i install clutches only. Many people ask me to diagnose noises from their cars, unfortunately i cannot do this unless i hear it.As you appreciate, vehicles can and will make a variety of noises.I DONT UPGRADE or fit aftermarket performace kits, parts, chips, only replacement parts.
