You lose. The Chevrolet Nova was built until 1979, being replaced by the 1980 Citation. I am fairly sure it was available with an inline six and 3 speed up to the end though I will verify with my books at home.

I believe the last car made with a 3 on the tree was a custom version of the 1986 Ford F-150, that's what wikipedia says anyway, although I have read (and seen) chevy/gmc C/K 1500 pickups of the 1980 to 1982 timeframe with 3 on the trees, although this is very rare

Looked this up on Wiki and it states that the 1986 Ford F-150 was the last American product with the 3 on the tree shifter. I always felt the column shifter made it a lot easier for your girlfriend to sit close to you on Saturday night.

3 on the tree available in Chevy trucks and vans as late as 1987. Ford pickups till 1986. Passenger cars as late as 1979. I heard of a special order Chevy or Chrysler car in 1981, order was placed by Iranian Government. Order was canceled after cars were built so they were sold to the general public. Cars were built in Canada.
