Question QUESTION: i have a 1985 dodge truck Slant-Sixes, i had the carb rebuilt, put a new coil, new spark-plugs wires, cleaned plugs. ran good, then, i was driving down the street, and it dyed. waited a few minutes, it would then start up again, run for a few minutes then when i step on the gas pedal it would dye again!!!! HELP PLEASE!!! it is my work truck and i can't afford to put it in the shop to get fixed
ANSWER: You may have a worn Accelerator Pump in the Carburetor, and it may be just as easy to get a rebuilt Carburetor, as it would be to try to salvage what you have.

QUESTION: When the carb was rebuilt , new accelerator pump was installed. On various occasions I could wiggle the wires from the dist, to coil and it would restart. This distributor has no points, which of the electronic ign components would you recommend changing first?
Thanks
Leon
Answer Are you referring to the Primary Wires to the Coil? If not, are your referring to the Spark Plug Wires?
If you are referring to the Primary Wires, than I'd say you have a wire with a break inside the insulation, or even right at the Connector(s) that attaches to the Coil Terminal(s). If that's the case, then you'll need to try replacing the Connectors first, and if the problem persists, replace the wire, or wires feeding the Coil ( the + and - Wires).
