Automotive/high pitch, whistling noise - 2006 ACURA MDX
Expert: Sean Halliday - 5/2/2006
Question2 days after delivery, I noticed a high pitch, whistling noise coming from the driver side of the vehicle. I immediately took the car back to the dealership but was told the noise was coming from the ˇ§fuel pumpˇ¨ and there is no fix. They could replace the fuel pump but if no problem is found with the old pump, they would charge me for the replacement. So I got scare and decided to wait and see what happens. Anyway, since then, the noise has intensified, although it can not be heard from inside of the car. Any idea as to how I should proceed with this? Can I argue that it is defective because it is making noise? Thanks.
Answer2006 acura,,i think that it highly unlikely to be the fuel pump, ive never heard a pump whistle.Im thinkin the dealer isnt going to spend time lookin for noises because these are extremly hard to pinpoint,,,,and its gonna cost him time at his expense...i would get a second opinion at a acura specialist,,,,,,keep at it they must fix it if its under warranty......did you try the head office?.......... cos my friend had a big prob with her new toyota,,,,and the dealer messed her around til she went straight to the head guy,,no prob,,car was fixed....cant tell you any more i would need to listen to this noise myself,so try gettin a good mechanic to look at it,,,good luck
