Question
I have a 1987 BMW 325 and cannot get the engine hood open.  There is no tension on the cable release, it may have broken.

Answer
Under the hood at the front if you look up under the grille you will be able to see the cable, you will have to fiddle to catch the lock mechanism with a piece of coathanger wire but you can do it,,,,,,,,,just hook it on and pull,,,you may have to remove the grille.
