Automotive/runaway engine

Question
I have a 1988 Honda Accord, DX, manual transmission.  The RPMs go through the roof after driving it a short while.I'm talking 3000 0r more. What direction do you look? And do you know what size the vacuum hoses might be, so I can replace them?

Answer
Sounds like the intake gasket is blown or the throttle sensor. The vacuum hose is 1/4 inch diameter rubber if you take a small sample to the parts store, you can get a roll for $10,,,,,,bigger hoses are shaped and you need to buy them individually. The engine races because as it heats up,the manifold expands and air gets in the intake because of the leaking gasket so i would renew it first. If it is your throttle position sensor, your check engine light will have come on.
