Automotive/toyota tercel cuts out

Question
My '97 Toyota Tercel usually runs great but twice in the last year it
has cut out on the freeway. It makes a slight revving noise (like it
has slipped gear) then all the dashboard lights come on and then
there is total loss of power (steering/brakes etc). It is an automatic
car and has an oil burning problem (will burn through an engine's
worth of oil every 1500 - 2000 miles). I am a nervous driver so I
want to fix the problem so that I don't have to worry about it
happeneing again! Thanks for any advice!

Answer
bad news im afraid, this car is one of the worst toyota ever made,,,,,,,,using that much oil usually means the engine is done,,,it would be cheaper to buy another car and junk this one.im guessing it puts out blue smoke from the tailpipe also?.does it have high mileage?.the loss of power is probably the engine dying ,due to a electric or fuel problem, really my advice to anyone with one of these cars is get rid of it ,i dont recommend rebuilding the engine on this model,,,,,,,not worth it.
