Question
Looking for a long box for a /66 3/4 ton Chev. S20 p/u
Needs to be in good enough condition so we do minor body work and sanding before painting. floor and tail gate not necessary.
Also, can you possibly tell me how to get the headrest off an /87 Olds Cierra, 3.8 4 door. Want to put on home made seat covers and don't know how the rests come off.PLEASE and THANK YOU.

Answer
Donna,
I have been in the parts business for 32 years and have never heard of a 1966 3/4 ton S20 pickup. I am going to guess you mean C20 which is a 2 wheel drive 3/4 ton Chevy pick up. You didn't mention if it was a step side or fleetside. It makes a difference. Regardless, you are looking for a needle in a haystack if you are wanting a good used one. That era of Chevy was made from recycled Toyotas and very poor metal. There are good ones out there but they are on very good looking trucks. May I suggest contacting the following companies as they may have a new reproduction or maybe a fiberglass reproduction?...:
  LMC Truck  1-800-222-5664 Lenexa, Kansas
  Chevy Duty 1-800-741-1678 Riverside, Missouri
  Jim Carter 1-800-841-1913 Independence, Missouri
  Filling Station 1-800-841-6622 LeBanon, Oregon
  Mack Products 1-816-263-7444 Moberly, Missouri
Donna, this is only the tip of the iceberg for parts for your truck. I'm sorry I have NO GOOD SOURCE for good used parts. I think GM built those trucks to rust so the customer would sell it in a few years and buy another. If you need more help on the truck stuff, get back with me. You have my e-mail address. Just put something like "parts needed" in the subject line because your request will come into my spam box. I can read and move it. Now to your Cierra question...
I have NO idea how to remove the head rests. Are they adjustable? If so, I would think if you pushed the button to raise/lower them, they should come out. Have you contacted your local GM dealer?? It may take 2 people, one to push the button and the other to remove it IF it is removable. What does your owner's manual say??
Anyway, that is about all the damage I can do but I hope it helps. Please remember I'm a Parts Pro, NOT a Tech. Sorry I was not much help on the headrest thing. I think I have offered you some options on the bed. Let me know if you need more help. Good luck...

Heretofore, I will NOT answer any mechanical question. I am not qualified and can only offer speculations. You are better served by others that are true Techs. With that being said, please only ask about parts and locating obsolete Auto Parts. Thank you. I have the ability to locate quite a few mechanical parts for American made vehicles fron the 1900`s to present. Some are OEM and some are aftermarket. This would include engine, brake and chassis parts. Body parts and trim are VERY difficult to find but you may inquire. If you need assistance in repair, I have illustrated books for major American manufacturers that show some illustrations BEFORE 1974. If needed, I can supply repair manuals for your specific vehicle. PLEASE REMEBER I'M A PARTS SPECIALIST, NOT A TECH!! Thank you.. Skip
