Automotive Plastics/How to fix a rear view mirror with a plastic button?

Question
My rear view mirror fell off my windshield and I tried to fix it by buying a rear view mirror repair kit, but the button did not attach to the windshield.  So I looked on the back of the repair kit and it read "not recommended for plastic buttons" My question is what is recommended for plastic buttons and would krazy glue work?

Answer
Hi Tara, plastics are low energy substrates to accept any adhesives,in fact adhesives rarely work well in most plastics. Do not waste your time trying to join any plastic to a glass windshield (although adhesives are plastic resins)the only viable systems are metal-glass interfaces plus a primer and lockquick from loctite for this application.thanks

I can answer any question concerning automotive plastics repair on condition that the specific part polymer is identified. However, I can also help in the identifying process of any plastic used in automotive applications (for both body work and under-the-hood). I can't answer a question if it is based only on make or model unless full details are provided.
