Question Have a redundancy oppurtunity coming up soon and would dearly love a career as a commercial pilot.Am worried though that at 36 and no 3rd level qualification behind me i would be unattractive to airlines.Could maybe continue to work and try modular approach. Any thoughts?
Answer Hi Alan,
Well at 36, you need 18 months training if you do the full time intregrated route. If you do the modular then you need to sit down and work out a realistic time scale of when you could complete all your training. I think 36 is still fairly young but perhaps give Oxford Aviation a call (if you are in the UK). They are probably one of the most prestigious commercial training schools in the UK, & see what they have to say.
Hope that kinda helps. It's hard to know what the airlines will want. Keep in mind it takes a while for newly qualified pilots to get a job, when they are in their early 20s.
