Aviation/Flying - landing a plane in the bay

Expert: Chris Lachance - 8/15/2008

Question
what are the rules or regulations if any on landing a "seaplane" or "floating plane" in a bay. specifically the Barnegat Bay, Jersey Shore.

Answer
Laurie-

I have to admit that I am not totally familiar with seaplane operations, but unless there is a regulation specifically prohibiting them from taking off an landing (safely) in the Bay my best guess would be that there wouldn't be a problem with it.

Your best bet is to reference current Federal Aviation Regualtions (FAR) to get more details.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Lucky
