Question
When is it too late to consider a flying career?  Is a career in aviation a good idea in current times?

Answer
Hi Rett, there is no real answer to your first question. Learning to fly is not age related and there is no restriction as to how long you can fly, except that scheduled air carrier pilots must retire at age 65.

That being said, the cost of getting your ratings must be spread over the expected career life and starting too late can make it pretty expensive.

A flying career is always a good idea in my opinion if you enjoy flying. The flying experience has changed greatly over the last 20 years or so, but in my opinion it is still the most fun you can have while making a living. In fact I enjoyed it as much or more than my hobbies, golf and skiing.

Google aviation schools and you can get more information.

Good luck, Ned
