Question
Sir

I've noticed that all tandem rotors use landing wheels instead of landing skids like other helicopters do. Why don't they use landing skids?

Is the Autogyro still used today sir? What is the correct spelling. Some books say its Autogiro, others say its Autogyro. Because it didn't have any tail rotor, what prevented it from spinning while in the air?

Answer
1. They use wheels because of the gross weight of the machine, skids might sink into the ground or hot asphalt.

2.  Autogyro

3.  Prevented from spinning due to a stabilizer fin (large) in the back notice it next time you see one, and because an autogryo cannot hover and must maintain forward flight.
