Question
Flying my ultralight from IL to UT in May.  Have groundcrew that will shadow me in car.  I have ICOM and they will too.  What frequency should we use to communciate from plane to car?  Thanks.

Answer
You can use any frequency that isn't in use by other aircraft or air traffic control facilities around you.  Pilots typically use 122.9 for pilot-to-pilot conversation, and I would suggest that for your purposes.  If the frequency has other traffic, you can always go elsewhere on the dial, e.g., "Let's try 122.925 and see if we're alone."  Avoid the commonly used frequencies, 122.0, 122.7, 122.8, and anything in the 121 range.  Sounds like a fun trip, be careful out there and enjoy!
