Question
Why do aircraft dim the cabin lights on take off and landing ?

Answer
B.J., I  have been told that the reason for dimming the cabin lights before landing and take off is to acclimatize your eyes to the outside conditions. It is a safety precaution that would help you see outside in case of an accident.

Sorry this reply took so long, I was out of town.  Ned
