Question
What is the combat survivability of the AH-64 Apache? Is it possible to take it down with small arms fire? Or do you need a SAM to take it out?

Answer
Hi Kevin,

The Apache is one of the most ballistically protected Helicopters the Army has ever operated. With protection to most critical components and pilot/occupant protection as well. Remember this... all helicopters can be brought down so to speak with small arms fire. I classify small arms as anything up to I'm. That is allot of firepower!! the best protection of modern combat helicopters is a well trained pilot, operating the machine to minimize risk, using stealth, environment, terrain and steely eyed determination.Hope this answers your question
