Aviation/Flying/Degree to take in College

Question
What degree should I take if I want to become a Fighter pilot in The USAF.  I want to attend the USAFA.  What do you think my chances of getting in are.  I have a 3.6 GPA and am involved in many activities.

Answer
In all honesty, what degree you pursue shouldn't matter.  I know people who are in pilot training who have degrees in everything from criminal justice, to history, to aerospace engineering.  What will help you get into flight training is your grades.  To get into the Air Force Academy (or any military academy), you need a Congressional nomination.  These are tough to get, as each person in the House and Senate only gets a certain number of nominations.  Keep in mind that not every USAF pilot goes to USAFA.  a good number go to other universities, and just to ROTC.

I hope this was of some assistance.  If you need anything else, please do not hesitate to ask.

Regards,

Marc
