Hi. Im a 200hr PP with a 172. I've always owned my own business.  How do I look for a job flying a pipeline.  Or starting a company & hiring other pilots. Are these kinds of contracts let out for bids or how do I find information about this.

In your case running an flying business should not be an big problem. If I am You I would first create good marketing materials and presentation pitch for pipeline inspection business and hit all local oil and gas companies that distrubute either oil or gas, do not forget electrical companies they are also usually using line inspections , and some of them they do have their own flight departments with numerous helicopters or airplanes. They are generally very busy, however they are always on search like companies like yours that can help them when they are in need for more aircrafts, that is chance for you.
There is also bidding process that some of the oil companies are also offering too. Some of those contracts are available for small business ops too.
