Aviation/Flying - TWA 800

Question
ok, serious now, for years now they have said that the US government were covering up for the US Navy's mistake of shooting down the 747.
As explained in detail, the conclusion the NTSB and FBI came up with, was that a short circuit caused a spark to ignite the vapours of jet fuel in the centre fuel tank causing the explosion and the plane to break apart and plunge into the ocean!
What i do not believe is that the plane carried on climbing a further 2000 feet after de pressurising while still running on full power. Surely if this theory on why the plane crashed is correct, then how come it carried on climbing until stalling? Surely if the tank exploded, it would have blown a bigger hole in the bottom of the plane leading to further back in the fuselage!
What i think happened is that a missile hit the plane, caused the nose to fragment off and seperate from the plane, and the speed of impact cause the rest of the body of the plane to crack!

The evidence points to the missile! Several phots were captured of a streak heading towards the plane shortly before explosion (eyewitness photos) and other 150 eyewitnesses reported seeing a bright streak head towards the plane before the explosion...

Your honest opinion on what you think happened?

Answer
Hi Scott, (Son),

The debates and disputes will carry on for years. The US Government has covered up many things is the past, ie the Kennedy assassination, the Roswell incident, the Iranian Airbus, (Which the navy did admit afterwards). The simple thing is, if a missile had hit the jumbo it would have blown the plane apart fragmenting debris into the cabin and the passengers. An internal explosion such as the fuel tank would have caused a massive blow out from inside so something had to give...the front half of the plane. Remember these planes are built in sections and joined with reinforced metal struts so the weakest point will be here. Look at the Girona crash a few years ago how the 757 broke apart on the seams.
Why did'nt the NTSB immediately ground all 747's after finding out about the fuel tank? This WAS an old jumbo and the wiring was dodgy. But it costs huge amounts of money to the airlines to ground planes, and whatever you believe and hear, passengers safety comes a poor second as airlines can go broke overnight if planes don't fly.

My heart is telling me that it was shot down, but we will never ever know. All the theroies of missiles and cover up will be debated for years. My head tells me it was an internal explosion as the wreckage points to this. There was nothing left of the airbus when it was shot down, just small pieces. The jumbo was still largely intact when it hit the water as the fuel trail on the surface points to this.
In answer to your question, the plane went nose up as the centre of gravity shifted to the rear when the front of the plane detached. The engines would have kept running for a few seconds causing the plane to climb vertically hence the orange streak seen in the sky. then it would have stalled at the top of the climb and gone immediately nose down into a vertical dive. G foces would have ripped of the engines and parts of the plane such as wing parts etc.
the main fuselage would have been intact when it hit the water. Same as the Lockerbie jumbo bomb, the fuselage was intact when it crashed down onto the houses causing a massive crater.
On the evidence I have seen, I say fuel vapour explosion caused by overheating in the fuel tank ignited by some type of spark.

Regards
PR
