Aviation/Flying - advice for a young person

Expert: Ned Dolan - 12/12/2007

Question
My grandson (14) has been interested in becoming a commercial airline pilot for nearly 3 years.  I wondered if there are any schools for teens like a "summer-camp" that would offer some hands-on experience to see of this child may want to pursue a real education and career in this field.  Grandpa and I would like to get him started on a good path to answer some of his questions.
          thank you- Leanna

Answer
Hi Leanna, there are no "summer camp" that I know of. However, your local airport will probably provide flying lessons for him. That would be an excellent introduction to the flying game and be a head start on his aviation college training as well. This web site has additional information for his future education.  Good Luck,  Ned
