Question Hello Mike, my question is, how many threads, if any should there be showing from a rod end bearing jam nut. This rod end bearing threads into the end of a flight control rod. There is a witness hole in the rod and a jam nut on the threaded rod end.
Second question where can I find this type of information?
I have looked in AC 43.13 and an Army TM 1-1500-204-23-1 and nothing specific about thread protrusion. So does it make a difference?
Answer Hey Keith,
It makes me wonder , if it does not state a required thread count in the -23 then I would assume it did not matter. BUT..if I remember correctly there is something nagging me about a visual check to insure there were threads showing. To be on the safe side I would call the manufacture or a local A&P or better yet an AI, just to be sure. Hope this helps.
