Answer -
Dear Gilard,

What exactly are you trying to do with the mag indicator?
The only thing I can see is the plus adjuster knob on the side which changes the heading.

Answer
Dear Gilard,

I have searched my databases and the best I can do is this.

The magnetic course is found by taking the + angular difference between the true north pole lines of a chart and the direction a compass points to as magnetic north pole. The amount should be indicated as magenta lines.
somewhere along the lines should be a 30 minute number giving the variation. The angle can be determined by comparing the two norths of a vor compass rose.

Phew! I dont use VOR anymore I prefer GPS its a lot easier.
There is a good site all about the dc3. Its called www.douglasdc3.com.

Good Luck!
