Ayurveda/pain in my knee
QUESTION: I am 39 years of age. About a year ago while doing surya namaskar i found a pain in both knees. But that pain is so normal but I didn't cared much about. And this pain was not regular I used to felt only during surya namaskar & that also not regular. A month ago a pain in right knee was increased to a level that i was unable to drive or walk. Dr took a x ray and said there is no arthritis and suggested me a physiotherapy. That didn't took my pain either.Now I went to a guy who gives Ayurvedic treatment & I am feeling much better. Now I want to know how I should take care of my joints so that i can do my sun salutation. As I do 50-60 sets of sun salutation from the last 2 years. I don't want to discontinue them as I don't do any other kind of workout. Please suggest.
ANSWER: Dear Mr vivek
Your pain is settled now. So I hope you don't need help there. I will suggest you to check your posture I feel some where during Surya namskar some movement is posing extra pressure on your joint. Check with some physiotherapist or yoga expert do it in front of them.
I will further suggest you to limit Surya namskar to not more than 10 min or 20 repetitions. Instead add some more asnas in your schedule. This will be more effective way to stop problem with knees and strengthening them.

No nO PAIN IN MY KNEE IS GONE ONLY BY 50-60% IT STILL PAINING WHEN i'VE TO COME ON MY KNEES DURING MY JOB.THE GUY WHO IS HELPING FOR MY PAIN IS A HAKIM AND NOT A QUALIFIED AYURVEDIC DR. MOREOVER ONE OF MY FRIENDS SUGGESTED ME TO TAKE ASWAGANDA FROM RAMDEV PRODUCTS BUT THAT DID NOT WORKED EITHER. AS I LIVE IN CANADA I DON'T KNOW HOW SAFE THESE PRODUCTS ARE.ABOUT SURYA NAMASKAR- I HAD ALREADY STOPPED IT FOR MORE THAN A MONTH AGO.AND NOW I ONLY DO MY PRANAMAS & MEDITATION.PLEASE SUGGEST ME IF I CAN LEARN AYURVEDA ON LINE TO TREAT ME & MY FAMILY.

Ashwagandha wont help much in case of pain. Try soft massage with castor oil. Yes finding medicine in your city will be a problem for you. Dont make your knee pain a chronic one. If you can find Aak leaves or Castor leaves there try doing some fomentation with that else do it with simple hot water soaks. Avoid curd for some time. Keep your stomach light and drink only warm water. If constipated drink 2 spoon of warm castor oil too. eat half spoon of ajwain with pinch of hing powder with warm water thrice a day. Do this for atleast one or two weeks. You will get quite good help hopefully. Else you need to take medicine.
About learning Ayurveda thats a good thing to do. Though we are going to start more batches of ayurveda courses, if any time you want to visit India will be good. You can start reading simple natural ways to treat. All the treatment you wont be bale to do in any case. But read more about spices used in kitchen it will help u immensely .
