QUESTION: We're a D/s couple looking for someone to marry us in a non-traditional setting and ceremony. I see that you are in a similar situation - did you opt for the JOP/normal ceremony? We're hoping to combine the JOP with the more important Binding. Thanks for any information!
ANSWER: Domina,
We had a small wedding, we wrote our own vows which to most would be considered a 50's relatinship.
When we decided to have a wedding, we looked into many churches, and that didn't pan out, we considered going to the Court house, but I didn't have a formal wedding the first time I was married. So Master and I looked for another way. I knew a Ordained Minister from the BDSM community, and we talked to him, since he knew of the lifestyle it wasn't hard to explain what it is we wanted. He gave us some examples of other marriages he had performed which we were able to write our own vows.
Depending on where you live, you might be able to find someone in the lifestyle to perform your wedding. I would suggest you look into it. Most groups online Egroups, or Yahoo groups will have a local community which gets together monthly for munches and such. If you would like, give me the state, and town if you would, and I will look into it and find you what you need.

You are more then welcome, I will look into Maryland from the contacts I have and see if there is a group, or community you can join which will lead you to someone who can marry you. I wish you both luck.
For our wedding, we rented a small room in the local convention center, which cost us about 150 dollars. You have the choice of including your food, or having them cater it, which may cost more but less worry for you. The arch we rented from hobby lobby along with the stands. We brought candles for the wedding, which we got from wal-mart. Including the Unity candle.
