BDSM/Leather and Latex Care

Question
I have a couple of new leather and latex/rubber toys.   The leather ones are fist mits and a muzzle gag as well as a but plug harness.  My rubber items are a jock, shorts, and hood.  After a while the oils from the skin make everything kind of greasy and shinny.  The but plug harness smells a bit because when its worn, the person sweats a lot and of course the plug is an anal plug which means some feces does get on the leather.   What is the proper way to care for and clean these items to make play safe and sanitary.

Answer
I hate to say it that leather and latex aren't known for ease of cleaning.
There are half a billion threads on the internet regarding latex cleaning. It can be very sensitive stuff that breaks down when you use any grease cutting detergent. Light soap and water are often suggested. You might want to spend some time googling and deciding what route you want to take for your latex.
There are methods to clean leather, and a quick search of google will bring them up. I don't know that any method is going to totally sterilize your products.
Ultimately leather and latex are not products that can be perfectly sterilized without damaging them. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. However, so long as you're not sharing them, you should be able to get them clean enough for satisfying personal use.
