I'm in a MASTER/slave relationship with someone who has been more than a friend for several years.  He introduced me to BDSM and asked me to be His slave this past winter.  Recently, he has told me not to call or text him.  He will sometimes text me but I shouldn't reply.  I don't know if this is a power exchange and his way of enforcing me to listen to him? We live a couple of hours a way so don't get to see each other daily yet.  I'm really confused but if I don't listen and try to talk to him, he gets even more upset.

To fully answer your question, I need to first ask you some.  When your Master does contact you, what does he say?  Is he giving you instructions, or controlling you by these messages?  What are the conditions of your slavery?  What kind of discussions did you have prior to your collaring, as far as what would be expected of you as well as what his responsibilities as your Master would be?  Does he  have other slaves, or is he married?  Are you married?  What expectations do both of you have for the future, with regards to your relationship?  Do you know anything about your Master's experience in the lifestyle, and does this knowledge come from any other source than just his telling you?

I'm afraid I just don't have enough information to give you a good answer right now.
