Questionlooking for a good spot to read about gorean and how it works that for you help
AnswerHello...
Thank you for coming to me with your question. I hope I can help you find the answers you are looking for.
I have lived as a kajira, or a Gorean slave, for the last 9 or 10 years, belonging to three different Masters. My last Master has owned me for the last 8 years, and gave me the supreme gift of making me his wife 5 years ago. We live the Gorean philosophy, or our personal interpretation of it, every day and in every way.
The best way to learn about Gor is to go to the source, the 26 novels written by John Norman, starting with "Tarnsman of Gor." Various interpretations of what Norman meant, and what his philosophy entails, can be found around the internet. Some are, quite frankly, put forth by people who have never even read the books. So, start with reading Norman himself, and then decide for yourself what he meant.
There are actually three Gors. One is the fictional world found in the novels. We can never hope to live there, and there are things found in the books that could never be replicated on Earth -- no matter what we do. The second Gor is that found in the chat rooms and message boards around the web. Here, people try to behave in a way as close as possible, in their viewpoints, to the world of the books. I once lived in this world myself. And the third Gor is the world lived by people like my husband and myself, who try to incorporate as much of Norman's philosophy into our lives as is possible.
Gor is not about the rituals, although many Goreans do incorporate more or less ritual into their lives. One of the basic tenets of the Gorean philosophy is called the "Natural Order." This says, in a nutshell, that men are created to be the dominant force in society and women are created to serve. How various couples choose to practice that tenet vary widely; if you were to come into our home, you would find in some ways a very traditional home where the husband makes all the decisions and has all authority over his wife. The fact that we also enjoy some S/m play from time to time is immaterial to our "Gorean-ness." Some Goreans enjoy this sort of shared recreational activity, many actually abhor it.
