BDSM/CBT

Question
I am a new Domme and have recently started practicing CBT with my sub.  I have been reading up and have found this site to be very educational and extremely helpful in this area.
I use a dog shock collar on my sub when we are in public (around the ankle) but am interested in using it as a form of CBT.
From what I have read I must be very careful when his balls or penis are bound as that is when they are at there most vulnerable.
I would really like to know how safe it is to use on the balls and penis?  Would it be preferable to use a tens unit instead?
The shock collar has 7 settings ranging from lightly zappy to painful.
Can you give me some guidelines or a reference to more information on this topic.
Thanks.

Answer
I would suggest instead the ErosTek Remote Controlled E-Stim, with training modes. It's a little bit pricey, but for a quality unit with remote only control, and no controls whatsoever on the unit, I would say that it would suit Your purpose admirably.

It has training modes, three silent alert signals, and various programming options that make it ideal for pain/pleasure applications. It is totally discrete, with the unit no larger than a Walkman type radio, and a remote that resembles those used by auto alarms. There is also a home unit with many more options, including user written routines, computer remote control, and a variable program routine that runs through the full set of programming options, and promising that there are enough routine variations to keep things interesting.

I hope this helps, and with You and Your sub/slave the best in Y/your Journey into the Lifestyle.
