BDSM/traveling with a collar

Question
This will be my first time to travel wearing a collar, apart from my SIR.  It's a metal collar.  I don't want to ask my SIR to remove it. Do you have any advice about what I should do?

Answer
I don't know the particulars of your travel plan, and I'd say that you should treat it as a fashion accessory and wear it with pride. People might judge you as gothy, but don't worry about it.
However, airport security might not be very understanding. There's no way you're getting through a metal detector and I have no idea whether they'll let you keep it after a very thorough inspection, if they might even cut it off,or what. That could become a severe issue. For that reason I'd recommend having your SIR remove it.
I may reconsider my position in a few days, but if it is air  travel....
You might try the boards on collarme.com to get input from more people more quickly.

As a follow up, I've been advised that you can get on the plane with a metal collar, especially if its welded shut, but to be at the airport an extra hour ahead due to the potential for extra security. No guarantees though.

If it involves gear I can answer it. Whether you're talking basic sex toys, restraints(leather, steel, etc....), electrosex, fucking machines, butt plugs, or any other kinky practice that involves gear. I can answer it.

Experience

I'm here representing www.eXtremeRestraints.com, we're one of the biggest bondage gear and fetish supply retailers on the internet. We spend a lot of effort looking for the right products to carry in our store, so we should be able to answer any questions. In short, we have a big warehouse full of just about any equipment you might want to ask about.
