BMW/1988 325ic relay

Question
I have removed a relay located on the a-pillar, left hand near the speaker because it was draining the battery over a time period of 3 to 4 days. I cannot find out what the relay does, I have called BMW and they cannot tell me. I have driven the car and every thing is operating fine. Any ideas what this relay does? The vin is
wbabb2309j8855516. Thanks!!

I own an '87 Convertible, and I've never noticed any relays on the pillar. Where EXACTLY on the pillar is it? Is it behind the speaker? What made you select that as the reason for the drain?
