Question
My 1989 325ix 2-door coupe has a slightly broken drivers seat, but the passenger seat is near perfect.  Is there a way to swap driver and passenger seat and in doing so can you re-mount the side levers that move the seat backs forward to allow entry to the back seats?
Thank you,
-David

Answer
David, I understand the problem, but I dont think there is anyway to switch the handles.  The seats are symmetrical, so they should swap and fit, but I personally dont know if they can be swapped.  I'm sure the seats are built on the same frame, so it would make sense if they could be swapped, but I've never tried so I cant be certain.
you can pop off the plastic covers and check to see if there are mounting holes or bolts for the mechanism to swap sides, that's the only way I know of trying.

 Sorry I couldn't be a better help!

Expertise

I can answer questions related to the BMW e30. These are the cars produced from 1984-1991 (1992 for convertable) in the United states. I am more fluent with the six cylinder models, although few things changed for the 4 cylinder cars. I know most of the problematic areas of these cars, and have found ways to fix them.

Experience

I have owned six different E30's over the last 10 years. I do all my own work, and know about ever nut and bolt on these cars.
