Question
my bmw 316 has a smell of petrol coming when i first start up then when the cars warm its ok but theres no petrol leek only from the over flow pipe

 The 316i has a little different fuel injection system than I've worked on.  We did not get the 316i in the United States.
 However a fuel leak is a fuel leak, no matter what the car is.  I would turn the key, and look under the hood (Bonnet) and see if you can locate any hoses that may be cracked and spraying fuel.  This should be fixed as soon as possible, because you dont want to be trying to put out a fire on the side of the road (I know from personal experience).
