Question
Please let me know:

Why the torque in Diesel cars are more than that of equal power Petrol cars.

The pick up of 335d model is terrific compared to Petrol engine.  Please let me know.

Thanking you
Babu Kamath

Answer
Hi Babu, all diesel cars have much better torque due to much higher compression rates. Petrol is a spirit while diesel is an oil , so the compression within the cylinder has to be higher than the petrol. This is the same reason  that diesel engines cost much more.
